Job summary

Dragados UK & Ireland seeks an Agent/Project Manager (MEP) to lead end-to-end MEP packages for the Global Switch London South data centre project. You will supervise design development, installation, QA and commissioning, coordinating between construction, design, procurement and commercial teams to meet time, cost and quality targets.

You will manage readiness, permits, risk reporting, and handover, while mentoring the project team and ensuring safety and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience in delivering MEP mechanical packages, ideally chilled water systems.
  • Experience in delivering MEP project management on construction projects.
  • Holds Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent, or relevant amount of experience.
  • MIMechE/MIET/MCIOB/MAPM or local equivalent.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning phase of MEP systems (FATs, SATs).
  • IT skills including BIM and collaboration platforms.
  • CSCS card or local equivalent.

Job description

The Agent/Project Manager (MEPl) is responsible for leading packages to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality requirements. Guides and coordinates with all relevant parties to understand and deliver project objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team.

Project: Global Switch London South (LONS) 5-story, 40MW data centre.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To support and report to the Senior Project Manager & Project Package Lead in all the elements related to the construction, programme of works and commercial issues of the works.
  • Responsible for the co‑ordination between the construction, design, procurement, and commercial departments to ensure the sub‑contractors can progress work on site in accordance with the schedule of works.
  • Manages parts of projects independently.
  • Monitors project timeframes and budgets, ensuring managing diligently and to the successful delivery of project management, highlighting any risks, challenges, and mitigations.
  • Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
  • To ensure that client requirements are met, ensuring that all quality, assurance, and compliance documentation is provided in a timely manner, collaborating with relevant parties/stakeholders.
  • Ensuring works are monitored to achieve right first-time workmanship and undertaking lessons learnt reviews to promote continuous improvement, while maintaining daily records.
  • To support the construction team with the technical and engineering aspects of the works, in particular method statements, ITPs (Inspection Test Plan), construction process, engineering specifications, set out and measurement and quality control, certificate and compliance.
  • To closely monitor the progress of the package works, reporting on actual cost, forecast, and highlighting any problems and issues for resolution to the Project Package Lead.
  • To develop and manage readiness planning for commencing works including ensuring all permits are in place before commencing activities.
  • Determines and arranges project management, technical services and external resources required for the project.
  • Oversees package timeframes and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of projects, highlighting any risks, challenges, and mitigations.
  • Leads and records relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management and mitigation treatments.
  • Documents and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes and ensuring they are processed and formalised within the agreed timeframes.
  • To assist a high performing team through the setting of clear SMART targets via the team plan and complying with the performance management process for all team members.
  • Responsible for ensuring approved handover documentation is coordinated and provided prior to practical completion.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Project Specific:
  • Assumes end-to-end design development, installation, quality assurance, and commissioning ownership for the assigned mechanical packages.
  • Manages key mechanical plant design review and integration, all the way to site installation. Attending and overseeing FATs as well as planning and coordinating deliveries with Sub-Contractors.
  • Responsible for design coordination with other disciplines, including other MEP systems and CSA packages.
  • Support the supply chain with regard to prefabrication and off‑site assembly, to ensure the design enables this approach throughout. From design coordination to site installation, including visits to manufacturing plants to oversee works and testing.
  • Drive and manage the works on site, ensuring that the programme is maintained and where programme is slipping, advising the MEP lead and interfaces packages in good time, proposing suitable mitigation measures.
  • Coordinates works with other disciplines via regular meetings, planning deliveries, lifting and other site logistics to ensure works are carried out safely and on programme.
  • Work alongside Sub-Contractors and Commissioning Manager to test and commission their package of works on time and successfully integrate it with the rest of the systems.
Technical skills and Competencies:
  • Proven communication, presentation and project planning and development skills.
  • Proven understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
  • Display strong communication and negotiation skills to support the client/customer focus.
  • Manage internal budgets and fees, delivering agreed outcomes (where appropriate).
  • Understand construction methodologies and sequencing.
  • To promote and champion DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assemble) and off‑site fabrication where possible.
  • Knowledge in Health and Safety Executive (HSE) (or local equivalent) rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
  • Partners with others providing day to day project leadership to achieve deliverables.
  • Manages teams providing guidance, direction, and coordination.
  • Mentors and develops the project team sharing knowledge and experience; provides a safe work environment to learn and mature.
  • To promote, champion and implement all best practice, safety management and safety initiatives across all aspect of design and site delivery, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is achieved for all.

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:
  • Relevant experience in MEP project management, managing small‑medium sized or complex projects.
  • Experience in delivering MEP mechanical packages, ideally chilled water systems.
  • Holds Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent, or relevant amount of experience.
  • MIMechE/MIET/MCIOB/MAPM or local equivalent.
  • Experience in the construction delivery phase of projects.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning phase of MEP systems, including FATs, SATs and integrated system testing.
  • Well developed IT skills, including working knowledge of BIM and collaborative platforms.
  • Appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card (or local equivalent).
