Job summary

NRL Recruitment is seeking an experienced Project Manager in Glasgow to oversee engineering projects in the nuclear defense sector on a 12 month contract. You will drive performance through leadership, collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Security Clearance: SC is required; UK nationality rules apply. Umbrella basis inside IR35. Location: Glasgow. Competitive contract terms offered.

Qualifications

  • Extensive project management experience in nuclear or highly regulated settings.
  • Full lifecycle experience from bid to close-out.
  • Knowledge of governance, contracting methods (NEC3, FIDIC) and stakeholder management.
  • Degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent.
  • APM PMQ certification; working towards ChPP status.
  • Knowledge of risk management, budgeting, cost control and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality within the project.
  • Manage customer interface, risks, planning responses and issue resolution.
  • Establish governance aligned with business management systems.
  • Drive delivery using best practices, continuous improvement and new tech.
  • Monitor programme performance, profit & loss, and regular reporting.
  • Manage third‑party suppliers to achieve project outcomes.
  • Coordinate activities, manage dependencies, ensure contractual compliance.
  • Lead reviews, close-out processes and lessons learned.

Project Manager

Summary

We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager, in Glasgow, to oversee the successful delivery of engineering projects in the nuclear defense sector on a 12 month contract via NRL Recruitment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on responsibility and is keen to drive performance through leadership and collaboration. If you have proven experience in managing project lifecycles and strong stakeholder engagement skills, this could be the ideal role for you.

Security Clearance: UK Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this role. Candidates must meet the relevant UK nationality requirements for security clearance, including being a British national by birth. Dual nationals are unfortunately unable to be considered for this position.

Salary: Open for discussion, it will be on an Umbrella basis, Inside IR35

Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality within the project.
  • Oversee the customer interface, including managing risks, planning responses, and resolving issues that arise.

  • Monitor programme performance, controlling profit and loss, and produce regular reporting.
  • Manage third-party suppliers to achieve desired project outcomes.
  • Coordinate project activities, manage dependencies, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Lead project reviews, close-out processes, and lessons learned initiatives.
Must-have Requirements
  • Extensive experience in project management, ideally within nuclear or highly regulated environments.
  • Full project lifecycle experience, from bid stage to close-out.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, contracting methodologies (e.g., NEC3, FIDIC), and stakeholder management.
  • Recognised degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent.
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) (previously APMP); progressing towards Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status.
  • Knowledge of risk management, budgeting, cost control, and schedule management techniques.
Nice-to-have Skills
  • IOSH Managing Safely or higher safety qualification.
  • Familiarity with nuclear industry standards and compliance frameworks.
