Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing Projects team, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple refurbishment and construction projects across our customer estate.

This role would particularly suit an experienced Site Manager, Site Supervisor or construction professional from a strong trade background who is ready to take the next step in their career.

You may currently be responsible for running individual sites and still spending some of your time working on the tools, but now want to move into a role focused on managing projects, people, programmes, customers and commercial performance.

Our projects are varied and fast-moving, predominantly within commercial and hospitality environments, with a strong focus on refurbishment and improvement works.

Individual projects will typically be around £50,000 in value, with larger schemes reaching approximately £150,000.

Unlike a traditional Site Manager role where you may be based on one project from start to finish, you’ll take responsibility for multiple projects at different stages of delivery, coordinating site teams, directly employed trades, subcontractors and suppliers across a number of locations.

You’ll be supported by an established operational, commercial and Health & Safety team while being given genuine responsibility for your own portfolio of projects.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has developed strong practical construction and site-management experience and is now ready to step away from the day-to-day tools and progress into a broader project management role.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple refurbishment and construction projects from pre-start through to practical completion and handover.
  • Take responsibility for project programme, quality, safety, cost and overall delivery.
  • Attend site surveys, pre-start meetings and customer meetings.
  • Develop project programmes and coordinate works across multiple live sites.
  • Organise and manage directly employed trades, supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Work closely with our Health & Safety team to ensure appropriate project documentation, RAMS and site controls are in place.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers and other project stakeholders throughout delivery.
  • Carry out regular site visits to monitor progress, workmanship, safety and programme.
  • Coordinate different trades and work packages to keep projects progressing efficiently.
  • Identify potential programme, cost or delivery issues early and take action to resolve them.
  • Monitor project costs, labour, procurement and subcontract expenditure against budget.
  • Manage variations and changes to the agreed scope of works.
  • Support the pricing and commercial management of projects.
  • Ensure workmanship and finished projects meet our required quality standards.
  • Manage snagging, completion and successful handover to the customer.
  • Maintain oversight of several projects simultaneously while ensuring each receives the attention required.
About You

We’re interested in people with strong practical construction knowledge and proven experience managing sites, trades or refurbishment works.

You don’t necessarily need to already have the title of Project Manager. This could be the ideal opportunity if you are an experienced Site Manager or Site Supervisor looking to progress away from working on the tools and into a broader project management role.

  • Strong experience within construction, refurbishment or property projects.
  • Previous experience managing sites, trades, subcontractors or packages of work.
  • A strong practical understanding of how refurbishment projects are delivered.
  • The ability to coordinate multiple trades and identify potential problems before they affect delivery.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several projects at different stages.
  • Confidence dealing directly with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • A strong understanding of construction Health & Safety requirements.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of your projects.
  • A full UK driving licence.

A trade background would be particularly valuable. We’re more interested in practical construction knowledge, leadership ability and the potential to develop into an excellent Project Manager than simply having held the job title before.

What We Offer
  • Salary of up to £55,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday.
  • Company vehicle and fuel card.
  • Company mobile phone.
  • Training and development opportunities.
  • Opportunity to progress from site-based management into full project management.
  • Exposure to a varied portfolio of commercial refurbishment projects, typically around £50,000 and up to approximately £150,000 in value.
  • Company pension.
  • Health Care Plan.
  • 28 days’ annual leave including bank holidays.
  • Your birthday off after one year’s service.
  • The opportunity to take genuine ownership of projects within a growing construction and property services business.
Could this be your next move?
