Job summary

Amey Ltd is seeking a Permanent Project Manager to join the Structures Assessment team in York or Crawley. The role is 37.5 hours per week with hybrid work and three days in the office.

You will lead project initiation, governance and budgeting, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with health & safety requirements. Strong stakeholder management and Prince2/PMQ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager in Construction, Engineering or related industry.
• Prince2, PMQ or equivalent – preferred.
• Strong budget management acumen.
• Proficient IT/Excel user.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Create Project / Programme Brief, PID, Communication Plan, and Project Quality Plan.
• Responsible for contract administration including change management processes.
• Set and monitor objectives for direct reports, including regular 1‑1s.
• Ensure logs are set up for issues, risks, decisions and lessons learned.
• Oversee quality control throughout the project cycle.
• Manage third‑party resources per Amey procedures.
• Plan, execute and finalise projects to deadlines and budget.
• Apply APM principles in line with Amey standards.
• Ensure Health & Safety and environmental compliance.
• Forecast and monitor financial performance with regular reports.

Job description

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Project Manager to join our dynamic structures assessment team in York or Crawley. The role is 37.5 hours per week, hybrid working with an expectation to be in the office three days a week.

What You’ll Do

• Creating Project / Programme Brief, Project Initiation Document (PID), Communication Plan, and Project Quality Plan.
• Responsible for contract administration including change management processes.
• Set and monitor objectives for direct reports, including regular 1‑1s.
• Ensure logs are set up for managing and tracking issues, risks, decisions and lessons learned.
• Oversee quality control throughout the project cycle.
• Ensure that the engagement of any third‑party project resources is managed in accordance with Amey procedures and policies.
• Plan, execute and finalise projects according to agreed deadlines and within budget.
• Apply appropriate APM principles to the management of projects in line with agreed Amey standards.
• Ensure project compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and other appropriate regulations.
• Forecast and monitor the financial performance of the project, providing regular (minimum monthly) reports, comparing actual and forecast performance to plan and explaining variations.
• Maintain regular liaison with all stakeholders and employees on project progress.
• Prepare weekly / monthly status, checkpoint and decision reports for meeting relevant project stakeholders.
• Take appropriate action to ensure that the project / programme is able to deliver to the required quality, on time and to budget.
