Job description

Civils Project Manager

Location: Cambridge and Peterborough
Salary: Up to £75,000 + Car/Allowance + Benefits
Type: Permanent

We're working with a well-established civil engineering contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee schemes across the Eastern region, covering Cambridge and Peterborough. This role involves leading a variety of challenging and high-impact infrastructure projects, including highways schemes.

This position is ideal for a proven leader in civil engineering who enjoys managing technically complex projects and developing teams.

Responsibilities:
  1. Leading site teams, operatives, and subcontractors to deliver schemes safely and on schedule.
  2. Preparing and implementing project documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and management plans.
  3. Monitoring contract performance against programme and budget.
  4. Maintaining strong relationships with clients and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
  5. Overseeing design coordination and liaising with technical teams.
  6. Supporting commercial teams with subcontractor assessment and procurement.
  7. Mentoring and developing junior staff and engineers.
  8. Championing health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Candidate Requirements:
  1. Strong background in civil engineering project management.
  2. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  3. Ability to manage change, deadlines, and subcontract packages effectively.
  4. Relevant civil engineering qualification (HND, HNC, BEng, or equivalent).
  5. Valid SMSTS and CSCS certifications.
  6. First Aid at Work certification (preferred but not essential).
  7. Right to work in the UK.
