Job summary

AzteQ Group seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead complex Structured Cabling Systems (SCS) projects, coordinating with CNS, DAS and AV to support multi-disciplinary delivery.

You will manage programmes, budgets and client relationships, while mentoring junior PMs and overseeing risk and governance. Prince2 Practitioner and APMP/APM qualifications are advantageous.

Role & Responsibilities

• Management of multiple projects, with a core specialism in Structured Cabling Systems (SCS), in the capacity of Senior Project Manager.
• Act as the senior technical and commercial lead for SCS projects, while maintaining a working understanding of Converged Network Solutions (CNS), Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Audio Visual (AV) to support effective coordination across multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Working with project sponsors and stakeholders.
• Provide team leadership and act as single point of contact for clients and internal teams.
• Provide leadership, coaching and technical mentoring to junior and mid-level Project Managers.
• Build and maintain project programme and documentation.
• Responsibility for building and managing an operational project team; this will extend to sub-contractors and partners.
• Ongoing communication with relevant internal functions – Finance, Professional and Service Delivery, customer success and experience teams.
• Assist the customer success team in building successful bids and costing models, particularly for SCS-led opportunities.
• Identification and management of all project risk, identifying milestones and dependencies.
• Identify and manage scope creep.
• Change management – provide alternative solutions and manage the change through the appropriate teams in conjunction with the client, in terms of costs.
• Identify contingency plans where required.
• Provide support, mentoring and education to team members.
• Build relationships with client’s project teams and relevant consultants to help maintain a friction-free process.
• Collaborate with client representatives and consultants to maintain governance for the connection of subcontracted systems and interfaces across SCS, CNS, DAS and AV workstreams.
• Management of project financials and commercials.
• Management reporting to the Project Director on a regular basis, showing progress against schedule and tracking budget versus actuals; manage and identify margin erosion.
• Escalation of project issues to the Project Director as required based on severity, acting as an escalation point for the wider Project Management team on complex SCS matters.
• Record and transfer lessons learned from projects back to the business through the appropriate means.
• Identifying the potential to up-sell additional services or hardware to clients via project variations or additional scope requirements. This includes managed services and maintenance contracts after PC.

Desirable Skills to include:

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to converse effectively at all levels, including client leadership and site delivery teams.
• Proven ability to identify, build and lead successful project teams, including mentoring junior and mid-level Project Managers.
• Significant experience leading and delivering external Structured Cabling Systems (SCS) projects.
• Prince2 Practitioner qualified or an appropriate equivalent; APM qualification advantageous.
• A clear understanding of where construction meets technical delivery.
• Strong working knowledge of structured cabling systems – copper and fibre infrastructure, containment, testing and certification (e.g. Fluke testing) and industry standards such as BICSI or CNet.
• Working knowledge of Converged Network Solutions (CNS), Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Audio Visual (AV) technologies, and how these integrate with SCS infrastructure on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Ability to manage a Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) spreadsheet or relevant software.
• Ability to control and manage monthly payment applications.
• Ability to manage variation orders.
• An understanding of IT infrastructure – switches, routers, firewalls and Wi-Fi systems, WAN circuits and IP-based technologies.
• Understanding of cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS etc.
• Cyber security principles.
• Exposure to IoT devices and smart building technologies (advantageous).
• Understanding and experience of building management systems and associated smart technologies (advantageous).
• All round IT ability and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word etc.) tools, MS Project and any other project management tools or software.
