Job summary

YTL UK in Bath is seeking an experienced project manager to lead a portfolio of major wastewater schemes from design through construction to client handover. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage NEC4 contracts, and ensure delivery to programme and budget while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Working with our Capital Delivery Partners, you will engage with clients and stakeholders to secure approvals, report milestones, and drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Project management/leadership experience in utilities or similar environments (CDM).
  • Strong people management, communication and motivational skills.
  • Experience in the water sector or process-related construction industry.
  • Good experience using Microsoft Office products and excellent report writing skills.
  • A full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams of consultants, in-house designers, and construction and commissioning teams.
  • Overseeing all phases of engineering schemes in accordance with NEC4 forms of contract.
  • Financial and technical management, ensuring adherence to client specifications, programme and budget.
  • Programme management of schemes and reporting on project milestones alongside Quantity Surveyors and Planners.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and quality procedures, while considering legal, contractual and governance obligations and budgetary boundaries.
  • Communicating with a wide range of client and external stakeholders to secure financial and technical approvals.
  • Working with Capital Delivery Partners to identify and mitigate risks as early as possible.

Job description

An exciting opportunity to participate in the delivery of a portfolio of major wastewater infrastructure projects, delivering schemes across the Wessex Water region.

In this role, you'll provide project management and leadership to manage schemes from the design phase through construction and client handover.

You will work alongside our design and construction partners and be responsible for managing multi-million-pound projects ranging from £3m to £30m.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • coordinating multidisciplinary teams of consultants, in-house designers, and construction and commissioning teams
  • overseeing all phases of engineering schemes in accordance with NEC4 forms of contract
  • financial and technical management, ensuring adherence to client specifications, programme and budget
  • programme management of schemes and reporting on project milestones alongside Quantity Surveyors and Planners
  • ensuring compliance with safety and quality procedures, while also considering legal, contractual and governance obligations and budgetary boundaries
  • communicating with a wide range of client and external stakeholders to secure financial and technical approvals
  • working with our Capital Delivery Partners to identify and mitigate risks as early as possible.

Working locations will vary and include hybrid working. You will work from our Bath office, satellite offices, construction sites, and consultants\' offices.

Under the guidance of the Programme Manager, you will have ownership of the projects that you are responsible for and will have plenty of support and opportunities for you to learn.

This role suits a self-motivated individual who is an excellent communicator, enjoys working in a team, and is good at critical thinking. You will also be able to review and challenge information, drive improvements and progress on a project and programme level, whilst maintaining good working relationships with all stakeholders.

What you\'ll need
  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Management Engineering or similar construction‑related discipline, ideally with a professional qualification.
  • Project management/leadership experience in utilities or similar construction service environments, including CDM.
  • Strong people management, communication and motivational skills.
  • Experience in the water sector or process-related construction industry.
  • Good experience using standard Microsoft Office products and excellent report writing skills.
  • A full UK driving license.

It would also be beneficial for you to have:

  • an IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate
  • a CSCS card
  • NEC3/NEC4 contract awareness.
