Job description

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in Telecare, Warden Call, Nurse Call or associated Fire & Security systems?

Do you enjoy taking ownership of a project, getting stuck into problems and making sure things actually get delivered?

This is an opportunity you won’t find advertised elsewhere. We’re working exclusively with a growing Fire & Security business to find the right person to join their knowledgeable team, take ownership of their projects and play a key part in their continued growth.

This could be a great next step for someone looking to join an established team where your experience, ideas and ability to lead from the front will genuinely make a difference.

The role

You’ll take ownership of projects from start to finish, making sure they are properly planned, coordinated and delivered on time.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply be managing things from a spreadsheet. You’ll be expected to get involved, understand what is happening on the ground, work through problems and bring projects back on track when challenges arise.

You’ll work closely with engineers, clients, subcontractors and internal teams, providing the direction and authority needed to keep everyone moving towards the same goal.

The role will include:
  • Managing Telecare, Warden Call, Nurse Call and associated Fire & Security projects from initial handover through to completion
  • Planning and coordinating projects, resources, engineers and subcontractors
  • Managing project deadlines and ensuring work is completed on time
  • Working closely with clients and maintaining strong relationships throughout the project
  • Identifying problems early and getting involved in finding practical solutions
  • Providing leadership and direction to the wider project team
  • Managing project documentation, administration and compliance
  • Ensuring paperwork, records and project information are accurate and professionally presented
  • Supporting cost control, variations and project reporting
  • Coordinating installation, testing, commissioning and handover
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation is completed correctly
  • Keeping multiple projects moving and maintaining visibility of progress
What we're looking for

You'll need strong Project Management experience within the industry, alongside a genuine understanding of the systems and environments you're managing.

We're particularly interested in people with experience across:

  • Telecare
  • Warden Call
  • Nurse Call
  • Fire & Security
  • Sheltered housing / care environments
  • Associated life safety or communication systems

You’ll be someone who is organised and dependable, but equally comfortable getting involved when something isn't going to plan.

You’ll need the confidence to lead people and hold others accountable, whilst being a team player who is happy to work alongside engineers and colleagues rather than simply manage from a distance.

Strong administration and coordination skills are important too. This role requires someone who understands that getting a project completed isn't just about the installation itself; the compliance, documentation, handover and detail matter just as much.

And your technical knowledge?

Knowledge and experience of BS 5839-1 and BS 5839-6 would be a significant advantage.

It's not essential if you have the right industry and project management experience, but we'd be particularly interested in candidates who already understand these standards and how they apply within the projects they're managing.

The person

More than anything, we're looking for someone who cares about the outcome.

Someone who:

  • Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Doesn’t shy away from difficult problems
  • Is comfortable getting stuck in
  • Can lead and influence a team
  • Is organised, punctual and reliable
  • Has strong attention to detail
  • Takes compliance and administration seriously
  • Communicates well with clients and colleagues
  • Wants to be involved and make a difference
  • Is passionate about doing a good job

If you're an experienced Project Manager who knows this industry inside out and wants a role where you can genuinely take ownership, we'd like to hear from you.

Due to project requirements and office location, you will be based within approximately one hour of Basingstoke, and a drivers license is a must
