Job summary

Seeker Recruitment is seeking an experienced PMO Lead to establish and lead the PMO for a growing consultancy, overseeing a portfolio of client engagements and driving governance, reporting and commercial insight from the heart of a new consulting team in London.

You will create structure, templates and processes, manage cross-functional resources, and partner with senior stakeholders to ensure successful mobilisations and delivery of outcomes with a pragmatic, commercially focused approach.

Qualifications

• Essential PMO, programme office or portfolio management function experience.
• Experience overseeing multiple projects or workstreams within consulting, professional services or transformation.
• Strong planning, governance, reporting and risk management experience.
• Experience in resource planning, utilisation tracking and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Good commercial understanding including budgets, forecasting, scope management and project economics.
• Comfort working with senior leadership and client stakeholders.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail with oversight of multiple moving parts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to inform senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage the PMO, providing a clear view of consulting opportunities and active engagements.
• Develop governance, reporting and stage-gate processes across the project lifecycle.
• Track scope, milestones, deliverables, risks, dependencies, actions and key decisions.
• Coordinate resources and stakeholders across the consulting team and wider Group businesses.
• Prepare and manage project reviews, governance meetings and steering forums.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, utilisation, resource costs and commercial performance.
• Support accurate time recording, invoicing and revenue forecasting.
• Produce management information and reporting covering pipeline, project health and portfolio performance.
• Develop and embed PMO templates, dashboards, tools and best-practice processes.

Job description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced PMO professional to establish and lead the Project Management Office for a growing consulting business supporting with delivery of client projects. Please note this role is best suited to someone who has led client facing projects/programmes, ideally in a consultancy style setting.

Working at the heart of a newly formed consulting team, the PMO Lead will create the structure, governance and visibility required to successfully manage a growing portfolio of client engagements.

This is a broad, hands‑on role combining portfolio oversight, project governance, commercial reporting, resource coordination and stakeholder management. You will work closely with consulting leadership, project teams, specialist resources and senior client stakeholders to ensure projects are effectively mobilised, appropriately resourced and delivered against agreed commercial and client outcomes.

As the PMO function is being developed, this role would suit someone who enjoys creating structure within an evolving environment and can introduce robust processes without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Key responsibilities

About you

We are looking for a PMO, programme office or portfolio management professional who combines excellent project discipline with strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills. Ideally you will have worked in an agency or consulting environment previously.

The following is essential;

• Previous experience establishing or operating a PMO, Programme Office or Portfolio Management function.
• Experience managing oversight of multiple projects or workstreams within consulting, professional services, transformation or a similar project‑led environment.
• Strong project planning, governance, reporting and risk management experience.
• Experience of resource planning, utilisation tracking and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
• Good commercial understanding, including project budgets, forecasting, scope management and project economics.
• Confidence working with senior leadership and client stakeholders.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain oversight of multiple moving parts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the judgement to identify what senior stakeholders need to know.
• Strong knowledge of standard project management, reporting and collaboration tools.
