About the role

Project Lead System Engineer (System Engineering & SC Cleared)

Location: Bristol / Andover (Hybrid)

Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 (DOE)

Type: Permanent

We are seeking an SC-cleared Lead Systems Engineer for a hybrid role with an immediate start, ideally in April 2025. The position involves occasional travel to customer sites in Andover and Bristol.

Work Arrangement

Primarily remote (3–4 days per week), with 1–2 days on-site in Bristol and Andover as needed.

Key Responsibilities and Experience

• Previous experience as a Project Lead System Engineer within aerospace, defence, or similar high-security environments.
• Support the Programme Chief Engineer in developing standards and governance.
• Provide engineering leadership across disciplines delivered by external suppliers.
• Deep experience in systems engineering, system integration, software and hardware development, and testing methodologies.
• Proficiency in cloud architectures, cybersecurity, software development methodologies, and engineering tools for defence projects.
• Lead engineering teams in secure environments, delivering mission-critical systems.
• Familiarity with defence standards (DEF STAN, MIL-STD, NATO) and technologies like secure communications and data analytics.
• Expertise in systems engineering, software/hardware integration, testing, and deployment technologies.
• Knowledge of ISR/ISTAR capabilities and standards for the ISTAR portfolio.
• Understanding of MongoDB, VMware, API integration, KAFKA, and Systematic applications.
• Assist in developing software factory roadmaps and requirements for current and future contracts.
