Company Overview:

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team, specializing in weapon system design within the defence sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hazard analysis for naval-related systems, safety requirements, and safety case writing. This role involves ensuring the safety and reliability of weapon systems through comprehensive analysis and structured methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hazard Analysis: Conduct thorough hazard analysis for naval-related systems to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  2. Safety Requirements: Develop and write detailed safety requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  3. Safety Case Writing: Prepare and manage safety cases, including the collection and organization of evidence to support safety claims.
  4. Safety Arguments: Develop and present safety arguments using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) to demonstrate the safety of weapon systems.
  5. Functional Failure Analysis: Perform functional failure analysis to identify potential failure modes and their impacts on system performance.
  6. Fault Tree Analysis: Conduct fault tree analysis to systematically identify and evaluate potential causes of system failures.
  7. Failure Modes, Effects, and Causes Analysis (FMECA): Perform FMECA to assess the reliability and safety of weapon systems.
  8. Structured What-If Analysis: Utilize structured what-if analysis to explore potential scenarios and their implications on system safety.
  9. HAZOPs: Conduct Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs) to identify and address potential hazards in weapon system design.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in systems engineering, particularly in weapon system design within the defence sector.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in hazard analysis techniques, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Security Clearance: Must be SC Cleared and a British National.
