Business Rquirement: Maritime Systems Engineer & Project Engineering Lead (PEL)

Overview:
We're looking for an experienced Maritime Systems Engineer to join our team as a Project Engineering Lead (PEL). In this key role, you will lead engineering efforts throughout the product development lifecycle for cutting-edge sonar systems used by the Royal Navy and global allies.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Engineering: Oversee product development, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.

Customer Interaction: Represent the engineering team in customer meetings to ensure technical alignment.

Hands-on Work: Contribute to the technical development of products across various technology levels.

Team Leadership: Manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full product lifecycle from design to qualification.

Risk & Issue Management: Proactively handle project risks and issues.

Engineering Estimation: Provide and review estimates for engineering tasks.

Support & Resolution: Help resolve issues for in-service products using structured problem-solving.

Compliance: Ensure adherence to security, export control, and health & safety requirements.

Key Skills & Experience:

Strong experience in Systems Engineering across either Software, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines.

Background in designing complex products. A maritime or defence background would be beneficial.

Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and projects.

Experience across the full product lifecycle (design, integration, verification, validation).

Risk and project management expertise.

Sonar / Maritime knowledge is a plus but not essential.

Hybrid Work: 2/3 days per week on-site in West London.

Travel: Occasional UK and international travel.
