Job description

ABOUT ZENOBE

Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.

We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.

Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Global Director of Network Infrastructure and with access to the Investment Committee and Board, this role is accountable for pulling together all the key aspects associated with taking large and complex battery storage projects through the investment process. The individual will work with the Directors and teams business to optimise the opportunities and mitigate the risks associated with delivering major infrastructure projects.

The candidate will need to be a rapid learner, be continually looking for ways we can improve to enhance returns and mitigate risks and will play a major part in delivering the Network Infrastructure ambition both to have 4.5GW of battery storage operational by 2030 and to deliver high quality cashflows and premium returns to shareholders.

The role helps to ensure we have the right outcomes across the end to end value chain to a Financial Investment Decision (FID), working with land development, engineering, procurement, construction, revenue optimisation, asset management, legal and corporate finance teams to present projects which meet the criteria required by our investors.

We are looking for people who are proactive, have a proven commercial capability and are comfortable working with a wide range of people and skills. She/he needs to be able to challenge in a way that can be heard, build understanding and enhance the capabilities of our people. The ability to work well with people, to encourage teams and individuals to work at their best and to bring energy, drive and fun to Zenobe is important.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Lead and manage the development of transmission level large scale energy storage projects
  • Overall responsibility from early stage development to financial close, making sure projects achieve FiD and target COD dates at the FiD stage
  • Running Project Board meeting with key internal stakeholders to progress a project through the next stage gate
  • Presenting to the Investment Committee project investment updates

  • Working with our Corporate Finance team and Revenue Optimisation team on the revenue requirements associated with a new debt facility
  • Coordinate with Business Development team to ensure the project investment case is optimised while delivery, operations, and markets risks are mitigated
  • Implementing best practice project development processes globally, working closely with functional teams across the business to support site identification, securing land, connection, and planning as well as achieving FiD
  • Own development strategy, budget, and tracking of spending and exposure for development sites
  • Management of matrix structured project development team built up of internal stakeholders within the business
