Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead site HSE activities, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and environmental controls across projects. You will advise directors and project teams, maintain statutory obligations, and implement safe systems of work with strong leadership.

Key duties include leading weekly subcontractor HSE meetings, conducting audits and site inspections, and promoting a culture of safety.

Qualifications

• CMIOSH status or equivalent professional qualification.
• CPD in IOSH or equivalent.
• Technical IOSH membership or equivalent.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Emergency First Aid certification.
• Minimum three years' experience in a similar role.
• Auditing to Lead Auditor standard.
• Incident investigation to Lead Investigator standard.

Responsibilities

• Lead site health, safety and environmental activities, ensuring contractors follow HSE requirements.
• Chair weekly subcontractor health and safety meetings, documenting actions.
• Promote reporting of unsafe acts and conditions to improve safety culture.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and safe systems of work.
• Audit and review subcontractor reports and site safety plans.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Investigate incidents and assign corrective actions with owners.
