Job summary

OSI Maritime Systems in Southampton seeks a Project Engineer to lead the project technical team and deliver compliant OSI solutions on time and within budget. You will be accountable to the Project Manager for schedule, cost forecasting and technical scope alignment against contract requirements.

You will define work packages, act as the primary technical contact with the customer, manage technical risks, and collaborate with the PM to set objectives.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in engineering with at least 3 years of complex system design and delivery and at least 1 year as a team lead.
• Ability to engage with and lead all engineering disciplines.
• Understanding of the project delivery lifecycle within defense procurement.
• Excellent oral and written communication, especially on technical topics.
• Excellent design knowledge and cost/capability trade-off decisions.
• Fosters an inclusive working environment.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated influencing and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Leads the Project technical team in development and delivery of a compliant solution on budget and on schedule.
• Responsible for work package definition, review and control.
• Primary technical point of contact with the customer.
• Identifies required Project technical resources.
• Responsible for risk management for the technical elements of the Project.
• Responsible for costing (estimation) during the proposal stage.
• Collaborates with the PM to develop and agree project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans.
• Allocates project responsibilities and assigns roles; reviews bids from contractors.
• Chairs customer facing technical reviews.
• Synthesizes project schedule considering plan and labor requirements.
• Maintains project schedule by coordinating activities; reviews and signs off engineering documents.
• Technical authority on all engineering and technical matters for the project.
• Reviews design, specifications and schedule changes and recommends actions.
• Monitors compliance to codes, QA/QC, security and safety requirements.
• Provides input to project status reports and recommends actions.
• Maintains quality, security and safety procedures on the project.
