Job summary

Glasgow-based engineering consultancy is seeking a Project Engineer to join their office. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility through to detailed design, construction and completion.

The role offers exposure to a variety of sectors across Scotland, including education, commercial, residential and healthcare, with opportunities to develop technical and project management skills.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Strong knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes.
• Experience designing varied structures and producing calculations.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural designs from concept to construction.
• Work on building structures (steel, concrete, masonry, timber).
• Prepare calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
• Collaborate with technicians, engineers and contractors.
• Review design progress and advise on risks.
• Assist with site inspections and project delivery.

Morgan Hunt are working with a well established engineering consultancy to recruit a Project Engineer to join their Glasgow office. The consultancy has a strong reputation of delivering technically excellent engineering projects across Scotland. The work spans a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, retail, industrial and, in particular, education.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative consultancy. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility through to detailed design, construction and completion.

Responsibilities

• Developing structural engineering designs from concept through to detailed design and construction
• Working on a variety of building structures - (steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber etc)
• Preparing structural calculations, specifications, reports and technical information
• Producing and reviewing engineering drawings and 3D models
• Working collaboratively with technicians, engineers, contractors and other members of the design team
• Contributing to multidisciplinary design meetings and project discussions
• Identifying design risks and developing solutions
• Assisting with site inspections
• Supporting project delivery to programme, budget and the required technical standards

What You Offer

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Roughly 4 years of relevant experience within a structural engineering consultancy
• Good knowledge of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes
• Experience designing structures in steel, concrete, masonry and/or timber
• Experience producing structural calculations and technical reports
• Experience using structural analysis and design software (TeklaSD, Tedds etc)
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• A practical approach to engineering, with an appreciation of buildability, cost and programme
• A genuine interest in developing technically and professionally
