Qualifications

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Working towards Professional Qualification with IStructE or ICE.

• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers.
• Full UK driving licence and site access.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake structural and civil engineering structures design works including buildings and bridges, foundation design and other structural and temporary design
• Apply relevant standards including British Standards and Eurocodes for structures projects in varied sectors
• Undertake site visits including asset inspections and construction support
• Play a key role in safety on site, design risk management and mitigation
• Apply best practice for quality assurance, health & safety compliance and commercial awareness
• Support and mentor more junior engineers to deliver calculations, reports, drawings and technical documentation as well as undertaking them yourself for your assigned work
• Liaising with with both internal and external stakeholders
• Support project proposals and tender submissions
• Collaborate with team, Directors, Business Development and Marketing to develop business opportunities with new and existing clients
• Build relationships with engineers, clients and contractors
• Liaise with clients to define scopes of work and develop proposals
• You will work collaboratively with engineers, clients and contractors
• Produce drawings and sketches for practical, constructable design solutions

About You

• A willingness to learn and develop professionally
• Proven understanding of engineering fundamentals and technical expertise in structural design for buildings, civil structures and industrial assets. You will have relevant experience in an engineering consultancy, with particular expertise in structural inspection, design, refurbishment & assessment.
• Demonstrable technical excellence in structural design, for a variety of structures including buildings and other industrial structures
• Detailed knowledge of relevant industry standards and guidance relating to design, assessment and refurbishment of buildings
• Strong knowledge of determining loading and methods of structural analysis
• Proven experience of design / assessment of reinforced concrete, steel, and other materials
• Proficient in specialist engineering software for analysis and structural design
• Excellent report writing skills and proven ability to presentfindings/recommendations.
• Ability to work to tight timescales and manage multiple workstreams at once.
• Full UK driving licence and the ability to attend client sites, as required
• Temporary works design is not essential but desirable
• Experience of coaching and mentoring staff desirable

Qualifications

• You will hold a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or an equivalent related degree (Bachelors or Masters)
• Working towards Professional Qualification with the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers or newly chartered
