Job summary

Elgin Energy is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the development, planning, and construction phases of large-scale PV solar and BESS projects across the UK and Ireland. You will work within a project team, conducting feasibility reviews, design coordination, and risk management to enable energisation and reliable operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering.
• 3 years’ experience in large-scale PV solar farm and BESS projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD and PVSyst.
• Knowledge of PV development and construction.
• Knowledge of PV technology, grid connections and energy yield assessments.
• Experience in solar project procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Familiarity with UK/Irish design codes, regulations and HSE.
• Ability to translate engineering issues into CAPEX/OPEX assumptions.
• Strong analytical skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Engage with development teams to input feasibility, site selection and project structuring.
• Conduct constructability reviews and identify buildability risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Provide technical review of planning documents for engineering accuracy.
• Support grid connection applications and related documentation during development.
• Coordinate concept design drawings and constraint maps across development phases.
• Identify and maintain a register of technical risks for each project.
• Ensure EPC/EBOP/ICP contract alignment and timely sign-off of changes.
• Manage specialist PV, civil and structural consultants and scopes of work.
• Assist in tender documentation for front-end engineering (geotechnical, structural, energy yield).
• Engage with external consultants and lenders' engineers and contractors as required.
• Maintain project information in internal trackers and produce technical reports for management.
