As we move through **AMP8**, we are delivering one of the most ambitious capital investment programmes in the industry, focused on improving environmental performance, service resilience and long‐term affordability for customers.**About the role**The Project Engineer (Rising Main Performance & Condition-Based Maintenance) is responsible for improving the reliability and resilience of rising mains across the region through the integrated analysis of operational, telemetry, and condition-based maintenance (CBM) datasets.The role combines hydraulic and data-driven insight to identify emerging failure risks, including transient pressures, asset deterioration, pump performance issues, and system instability, and proactively develops intervention plans designed to prevent bursts and failures before they occur.**What you will be responsible for*** You will be accountable for defining appropriate intervention strategies for individual rising mains, working closely with operational, asset, and engineering stakeholders to agree solutions, and overseeing contractors responsible for delivering site interventions* Analyse analytical platform outputs and telemetry datasets to identify pressure transients, abnormal operating conditions, and emerging risks on rising mains.* Develop and run data-led models of rising main behaviour to determine likely root causes of abnormal operation, including pump control interactions, transient events, and system constraints.* Engage, brief, and oversee contractors responsible for implementing agreed calming and control solutions, ensuring works are delivered safely, effectively, and to specification. **What you’ll bring to the role*** Strong experience working with complex analytical or telemetry datasets within an engineering, asset, or operational context.* Proven ability to interpret data to diagnose performance issues and failure modes.* Experience developing technical recommendations based on quantitative evidence.* Ability to work across multiple teams, including operations, engineering, and external contractors.* Understanding of rising main operation, transient pressures, and pump controls.Southern Water is at the forefront of transforming Britain’s water industry, investing significantly to enhance resilience, sustainability, and service excellence.
