Omexom UK, part of VINCI Energies, is seeking a Project Engineer to join Omexom Engineering. You will work with Design Engineers to deliver HV/substation projects safely and efficiently across the UK and Ireland.

The role requires traveling to client sites, coordinating design activities, managing costs and programme delivery, and providing technical support to the engineering team. Doncaster-based with UK travel opportunities.

Qualifications

Job Description: Project Engineer

Business Unit: Omexom Engineering

Background

Omexom is a brand within VINCI Energies which undertakes Transmission & Distribution activities. Omexom UK and ROI specialises in the design, supply, installation, maintenance and commissioning of electrical infrastructures for a varied range of electricity utility companies and renewable energy developers throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Role

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Work closely with Design Engineers to ensure the safe, efficient and productive delivery of HV substation projects.
• Represent Omexom professionally in a wide range of project situations with various internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist with managing compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, policy and legislation.
• Co-ordinate design activities, resources, materials and equipment.
• Act as a point of contact for design engineers and communicate with all clients to ensure delivery of the required planned productivity on a daily basis.
• Assist with programme development and resource planning.
• Represent Omexom at client meetings.
• Assist with the overall tendering process, working closely with the Business Unit General Manager to develop comprehensive and accurate bid returns, to challenging timescales.
• Assist with all site and client interfaces.
• Work closely with Design Engineers to manage project costs and income, ensuring commercial targets are met.
• Provide technical support to the engineering team, continuously looking for improvement in the work package delivery process.
• Interact with all Client personnel as required to ensure full co-operation on projects is achieved through good interpersonal relationships.
• Attend and undertake meetings with clients, contractors and consultants as required.
• Travel as required to support business requirements.
• Develop reports for Engineering team.

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Previous management experience including the ability and willingness to address poor performance.
• Good commercial awareness with ability to monitor and accurately report performance against pre-determined targets.
• A sound working knowledge of electrical infrastructure, safety rules / legislation and CDM (UK) / Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 (ROI).
• Good working knowledge of computers and relevant computer packages including Microsoft office products.
• Exceptional customer focus.
• A willingness to assimilate to our Values.
• Experience and understanding of working within contract terms and conditions.
• A good level of commercial awareness and understanding of power networks.

Desirable Skills and Competencies

Sound working knowledge of broader electrical networks including distribution systems and associated plant and equipment. Knowledge of civil works would also be an advantage.

General

This role will be based from our Doncaster office but may require travel throughout the UK and Ireland depending on business requirements.
