Job summary

Ser- in Derbyshire is seeking a Project Engineer to lead capital investment and improvement projects from concept through installation and handover, in a manufacturing setting that blends older equipment with modern automated systems.

The ideal candidate holds a mechanical or electrical engineering degree and has at least five years in automated manufacturing, with strong planning, ROI assessment and contractor coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• At least five years' experience in automated manufacturing.
• Experience managing capital investment or engineering projects.
• Experience with manufacturing machinery, site infrastructure and utilities.
• Competence in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Strong planning, organisational and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Proactive, self-motivated with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering and capital investment projects from concept to handover.
• Develop project plans, schedules, budgets and resource needs.
• Monitor expenditure and ROI to ensure value for money.
• Coordinate equipment procurement and liaise with suppliers and contractors.
• Oversee installation, commissioning and handover activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve production capacity and efficiency.
• Ensure health and safety compliance and maintain documentation.
