Job description

A fixed term opportunity has arisen for a period of 6 months to identify, help design and implement capital replacement and improvement projects to enable and support the business requirements.

Key Outputs

  • Continually improving line performance and waste levels within Mixing / Manufacturing & Filling and Blow moulding.
  • The Policing of new equipment purchased within your remit / project control, ensuring it is safe to use and complies with all relevant legislation.
  • Projects deliver savings and benefits as budgeted.
  • Implement agreed project team standards and specifications for all new equipment and installations.
  • A supportive environment where a maximum contribution from each employee is valued and encouraged.
  • To assist the project team in identifying projects as part of the annual capital expenditure budget process.
  • Attend meetings with the sales and marketing/development and assist with the feasibility and costs of new product introduction [ PDM ].
  • To participate in the quality improvement process within the blow moulding / Filling sector of bottle manufacture, so that problems are tackled systematically and eliminated through continuous improvement.
  • To set thumb nail costings and work within the project team to agree budgets and timescales, to assist in the implementation process for agreed projects including project approval, design, Explore and collate detail and quotes from suppliers and contractors, assist in the purchase of equipment, scheduling of work, over-seeing quality of work completed, commissioning, snag lists, assist in the development of procedures and documentation, and project handover.
  • To ensure all work carried out while running or investigating projects meets current legal and site Health and Safety requirements.
  • To promote the introduction of new technology and methods where appropriate.
  • To support the production engineering function in both Mixing / Manufacturing &Filling and be a key support in terms of problem solving and continuous improvement projects in Blow moulding.
  • Deliver the sites agreed clear specifications and standards associated with the purchase and installation of equipment.
  • To assist with engineering appraisals of equipment in order to identify and quantify causes of inefficiencies/poor performance, work with engineering teams to propose robust solutions.
Qualifications/Experience

  • Ideally an Apprentice Trained Multi Skilled engineer
  • Must have extensive experience of production project management in a FMCG environment.
  • Must hold the relevant skills required to develop continuous improvements within the Mixing / Manufacturing, Filling and Blow moulding departments.
  • Actively participates in the Project engineering team management strategy and site objectives, ensures that the site plant and equipment can meet both current and future demands.
  • • Must be capable of Identifying and promote recommendations with regards to the most efficient and cost effective production and engineering process methods.
  • Must have an understanding of project management principles and processes and can ensure that projects meet key milestone dates and deadlines, quality, customer and budget standards.
  • Must be capable of effectively communicating project time plans and details to a wide range of operators and managers.
  • Must be able to maintain an up to date knowledge of engineering developments and trends in a Blow mould manufacturing field and develop skills in other manufacturing processes.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of equipment's scope and limitations.
  • Must be able to work with Project team members in conjuction with suppliers to determine optimum equipment specifications to meet customer and manufacturing requirements.
  • Must be able to follow the sites fixed criteria "in-conjunction with the Electrical & Services manager "and assist with the control of all the relevant site plans and drawings to meet both site and legal requirements.
  • Must be able to follow the sites fixed criteria "in-conjunction with" any new projects introduced into the factory and ensure they meet all safety and environmental aspects, both company and legal requirements.
