Job summary

VolkerRail, part of VolkerWessels UK, seeks a Civils Project Engineer / CRE-C to lead civil engineering delivery on rail projects in Scotland and the North of England, based between sites and the Glasgow office.

You will manage technical delivery, safety, and quality, acting as Civils CRE-C and coordinating with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. A valid PTS and UK driving license are required.

Qualifications

• A degree, or HND in Civil Engineering.
• Strong civil engineering experience in the rail sector.
• Good understanding of Network Rail engineering management and engineering assurance requirements.
• Previous experience acting as a Civils CRE-C, with suitable evidence of competence and delivery.
• Previous experience acting as a Temporary Works Coordinator, together with current Temporary Works Coordinator competence.
• A valid PTS Card.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Managing the technical delivery, quality, and engineering safety of civil engineering works across rail projects.
• Setting-out, Toppo surveys and as-built surveys using GPS and RTS.
• Supporting material procurement through taking offs and contributing civil engineering input to multidisciplinary tenders.
• Coordinating with clients, contractors, testing organisations, and other engineering disciplines, while supporting programme delivery, document control, and quality control.
• Enforcing quality, safety and engineering assurance.

Metro and Rail Projects (MRP) have extensive experience of working on high profile projects for most of the UK's light rail and tram operators and on the UK heavy rail network. We are recognised as a market leader for the provision of renewal and minor enhancements services to the light rail sector and as a supplier of choice to the wider rail market. Our specialist teams continue to offer high quality track construction, maintenance and renewals to a wide range of clients including: Nottingham Express Transit, Manchester Metrolink, Sheffield Supertram, and London Tramlink as well as a number of Major Contractors on the heavy rail network. An opportunity has arisen for a Civils Project Engineer / CRE-C residing in Scotland to join our Scotland framework team and take a leading role in the safe, high-quality delivery of civil engineering works on various rail infrastructure projects across the North of England and Scotland, based between sites and our Glasgow office.

• Managing the technical delivery, quality, and engineering safety of civil engineering works across rail projects. Acting as the Civils CRE for construction, providing engineering assurance, and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, standards, and project requirements Producing, reviewing, and approving technical work scopes, specifications, construction documentation, and methodologies Managing construction teams and contractors, checking permanent and temporary works against approved designs, signing off completed works and issuing Form E documentation Undertaking
• Setting-out, Toppo surveys and as-built surveys using GPS and RTS
