Job description

What if your next role gave you a three-day weekend every week while putting you at the centre of one of the largest and most significant projects in the UK’s Decommissioning history?

This is an opportunity to play a leading role on the Boilers & Ancillary Plant Removal Programme at Dungeness A Power Station, a flagship decommissioning project that will shape the future of the site for years to come.

As a Project Engineer, you'll have the chance to influence major engineering decisions, lead technical delivery across complex workstreams and help drive one of the most ambitious programmes ever undertaken by Nuclear Restoration Services.

Alongside the scale and importance of the work, you'll benefit from a full-time role delivered across a four-day working week, giving you every Friday off. Whether you're currently working in nuclear, power generation, defence, oil and gas or another heavy industrial environment, this is a rare opportunity to apply your expertise on a project that will leave a lasting legacy while opening the door to future opportunities across NRS.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Project Engineer, you'll be responsible for turning engineering concepts into practical solutions that support the safe and successful delivery of major decommissioning activities. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you'll help solve complex technical challenges involving demolition, de-planting and plant modification works across a highly regulated industrial environment.

This is a role where you'll see the direct impact of your work. Your engineering decisions will influence how major structures are safely dismantled, how risks are managed and how projects are delivered. You'll work across the full project lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders, managing technical deliverables and helping shape engineering solutions that will leave a lasting legacy at Dungeness.

All of this is delivered through a full-time role structured across just four days each week, giving you an additional day to do what matters most outside of work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering civil and structural engineering solutions for major decommissioning projects.
  • Managing design activities and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and CDM requirements.
  • Supporting plant modifications, decommissioning activities and technical project delivery.
  • Working closely with project teams and stakeholders to deliver safe, effective engineering outcomes.
Who Are We Looking For?

We're looking for a Civil or Structural Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and solving real engineering challenges. You may already be working within the nuclear sector, but we're equally interested in candidates from other highly regulated or heavy industrial environments. What matters most is your ability to apply civil and structural engineering principles to complex industrial facilities and deliver practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.

You'll bring experience working on industrial plant, infrastructure or large-scale engineering projects where safety, quality and technical rigour are critical. Experience working with both steel and reinforced concrete structures would naturally be valuable given the nature of the facilities being decommissioned. If you're looking for a role where you can contribute to one of the most ambitious decommissioning programmes in the UK while developing your career within a growing engineering team, we'd love to hear from you.

To be successful, you'll typically bring:

  • An HNC, engineering degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Civil or Structural Engineering experience within an industrial plant or major engineering environment.
  • Experience delivering engineering projects within nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
  • A good understanding of engineering standards and project delivery principles.
If you're looking for a role that combines a four-day working week, meaningful engineering challenges and the opportunity to contribute to one of the largest and most significant projects in NRS, we'd love to hear from you.
Ready to make an impact?

This is your chance to take on a highly influential site leadership role, working on important projects in a unique and challenging environment. If you're passionate about construction safety, operational excellence and delivering high standards, we'd love to hear from you.
