Job summary

Aureos is seeking an experienced Project Delivery Lead for a major nuclear decommissioning and demolition program in the UK. You will manage subcontractors, uphold rigorous HSEQ standards, and ensure compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory requirements.

The role requires extensive experience in demolition projects, NEC4 contract administration, and strong stakeholder engagement with regulators. A senior, multidisciplinary leader will drive planning, risk management, and progress reporting

Qualifications

  • Essential: MIDE or CCDO qualification.
  • Desirable: degree or HNC/HND, or relevant apprenticeship.
  • Experience in major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in demolition/deconstruction projects and regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of nuclear licensing and safety frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of major nuclear decommissioning/demolition packages.
  • Manage subcontractors and specialist demolition contractors with safe systems of work.
  • Drive HSEQ, programme, and commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and site licence conditions.
  • Oversee demolition activities including hazardous materials handling.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and plan complex works.
  • Manage NEC4 contract actions: early warnings, compensation events, programme submissions.
  • Maintain risk management for radiological, structural, and environmental hazards.
  • Foster client relationships and interface with regulators.
  • Ensure accurate reporting on progress, cost, and performance.

Job description

Primary tasks and duties:
Project delivery
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a major nuclear decommissioning/demolition packages

  • Manage subcontractors and specialist demolition contractors, ensuring safe systems of work and high-quality outputs

  • Drive performance across Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ), programme, and commercial outcomes

  • Ensure full compliance with nuclear safety case requirements, regulatory standards, and site licence conditions

  • Manage demolition and dismantling activities, including hazardous materials handling and waste streams

  • Work with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, radiological protection, and commercial functions

  • Contribute to planning, programming, and sequencing of complex demolition works

  • Work with commercial and planning functions to manage project delivery in line with NEC4 contractual requirements, including early warnings, compensation events, and programme submissions

  • Maintain robust risk management processes, particularly relating to radiological, structural, and environmental hazards

  • Drive strong client relationships and act as an interface with key stakeholders including regulators

  • Ensure accurate reporting on progress, cost, risk, and performance

  • Foster a culture of safety leadership, continuous improvement, and collaboration

  • Lead decision-making to resolve delivery challenges and mitigate programme delays

  • Ensure teams are competent, trained, and aligned with project objectives and behaviours

  • Maintain comprehensive project records including cost tracking, performance metrics, and compliance documentation

QESH
  • Lead by example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of QESH best practice, ensuring compliance with company procedure, policy and legal obligations.

  • Ensure the Project Management Plan is completed and reviewed on a monthly basis.

  • Produce RAMS and safe systems of work and review on a monthly basis or as necessary.

  • Coordinate temporary works.

  • Promote Near Miss and Positive Intervention reporting

Qualifications and Training

Essential:

  • MIDE or CCDO

Desirable:

  • Degree or HNC/HND qualified, or relevant apprenticeship level
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in major construction or infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience in demolition/deconstruction projects
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of demolition methodologies, temporary works, and sequencing risks
  • Excellent health, safety, and environmental leadership, particularly in high-hazard environments
  • Ability to manage major subcontract and direct works packages
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing cost, change, and risk
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and regulators
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and contractors
  • Experience delivering projects within the nuclear decommissioning sector
  • Understanding of nuclear licensing, safety case requirements, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working on nuclear licensed sites
  • Knowledge of radioactive waste management and decontamination processes
  • Knowledge and experience of asbestos legislation and requirements
