Job summary

Ross-Shire Engineering Limited is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Warrington team on a permanent basis. You will drive project delivery, supervise on-site teams, and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring quality and safety across the project lifecycle.

The role requires a technical degree or equivalent, proven project-management experience, and strong communication skills. You will work in a dynamic environment, liaising with clients and internal teams to meet programme milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Manage delivery of projects end-to-end and supervise delivery teams.
  • Coordinate site activities and manage subcontractors and site managers.
  • Ensure availability of technical information for design/construction.
  • Interpret drawings, specs and schedules; prepare final documentation.
  • Identify and resolve design/construction non-conformances.
  • Manage design of systems in line with specs and tech aspects.
  • Prepare contract documents and health & safety plans for CDM roles.
  • Contribute to tender, design and construction programmes; report progress.

Job description

What Are We Looking For

Our Integrated Asset Management business platform is looking for a Project Engineer with a keen interest in project delivery and management to join us on a permanent basis in our Warrington office. You will be responsible for the delivery of projects and managing the performance of projects end-to-end, supervising operational sites and their delivery teams, including Project Engineers, Site Managers, Supervisors and Sub‑Contractors.

Some of your key duties include
  • Project liaison from enquiry stage to final acceptance and documentation, meeting with clients as required to discuss specific requirements and carry out site surveys.
  • Instructing, directing, controlling and allocating work to trade operatives & apprentices, with attention to quality, productivity and safety.
  • Ensuring all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction.
  • Interpreting and checking drawings, specifications and schedules for all activities, directing work accordingly and preparing final documentation (As‑Built drawings, etc.).
  • Early identification and resolution of non‑conformance within both the design and construction phases.
  • Managing the design of systems and products, ensuring alignment with design specifications and technical aspects.
  • Completing contract documents.
  • Managing project quality deliverables and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal and client quality systems.
  • Providing input to tender, design and construction programmes including progress updates and reporting.
  • Sub‑contractor liaison and management, including tender specification, quotation and H&S documentation review and appraisal.
  • Preparing construction‑phase health and safety plans for projects with principal contractor responsibility under CDM.
What do you need?
  • Qualification to a degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in project management, with an engineering or supervisory background.
  • Strong time‑management skills, able to multitask, plan and organise day‑to‑day workloads in a busy environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow, interpret and explain technical instructions.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to all engineering trades, particularly mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Driven, able to work individually and in teams under your direction.
  • Innovative thinking, with the ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
