Job summary

Visum Recruitment Ltd. seeks a Project Engineer (Electrical & Controls) in Gloucestershire to own projects from proposal through delivery, liaising with customers and sales. The role combines hands-on technical work with collaborative support for the sales team.

You will work on electrical control panels, circuit design and automated systems, reading complex drawings, with strong Excel usage for tracking and analysis. Occasional UK site visits are required.

Project Engineer (Electrical & Controls) – Gloucestershire | Tewkesbury

Visum Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of an established specialist engineering manufacturer, who are looking to appoint a Project Engineer with an electrical and controls background to join their Gloucestershire-based team.

This is a great opportunity for a technically astute engineer to take ownership of the project lifecycle, from initial proposal through to delivery, acting as a trusted technical partner to customers and the wider sales team.

The Role

• You will take responsibility for projects from proposal stage through to delivery, with the role split roughly 50/50 between proactive project execution and reactive technical troubleshooting.
• You will act as the main technical contact for fabrication teams and electrical control panel builders, tracking progress and assembly quality.
• The role involves building strong customer relationships through regular calls and occasional site visits, offering consultative technical guidance rather than a hard sell.
• You will interpret customer specifications to produce accurate technical proposals, tender documents and cost analyses, and manage subcontractors and suppliers on lead times, pricing and resources.
• You will also provide high-level technical support to the sales team on complex fluid control systems, review technical data sheets, O&M manuals and engineering layouts, and manage sales orders using ERP, CRM and specialist sizing software.

About You

• We are looking for an Electrical, Mechanical or Systems engineer with a minimum of HNC/HND or degree-level qualifications and at least 3 years' experience in project engineering and technical sales support.
• You will have strong, demonstrable knowledge of electrical control panels, circuit design and automated systems, and be confident reading and working from complex technical drawings.
• Strong Excel skills are needed for calculations, project tracking and data analysis.
• Knowledge of steam, hot water or thermal oil systems, or of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), would be an advantage but is not essential. A full training programme covering products, applications and systems will be provided.
