Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a Project Engineer in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, with a salary of £50,000-£55,000. The role covers contracts from order receipt to installation, requiring AutoCAD design work and MS Project scheduling.

Occasional UK/overseas travel and a valid passport with a UK driving licence are expected. You will coordinate technical and commercial aspects, manage schedules, and ensure milestone tracking and cost control across projects for food processing & packaging equipment

Qualifications

• Experience managing multiple projects from concept to completion.
• Experience in process engineering or special purpose machinery.
• Proficient with AutoCAD for layout drawings.
• Knowledge of process systems, steam systems, hydraulics, pipework, pneumatics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with clients and suppliers.
• Willingness to travel and have a valid passport and UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Manage contracts/projects from order receipt to customer installation.
• Be the main technical and commercial contact for clients; agree project scopes.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using MS Project (Gantt charts).
• Produce project documentation: 2D plant layouts, scopes of supply, P&IDs, BOMs.
• Procurement: specify and source components, equipment and sub-contract services.
• Track milestones and control costs on projects.
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing; oversee packing, shipping, and installation plans.
• Occasional visits to UK and overseas sites to oversee delivery and handovers.

Join a leading design and manufacturer of full turnkey projects for food processing & packaging machinery. Due to further growth within the business, they are looking for an experience Project Engineer to handle projects from concept through to completion.

Role & Responsibilities of a Project Engineer:

• Responsible for contract/projects from receipt of order through to successful customer install
• Act as the main technical & commercial point of contact for clients, agree projects scopes
• Develop and maintain project schedules using MS Project (Gantt Charts)
• Produce project documentation - 2D plant layout drawings (Using AutoCAD), scopes of supply, P&ID's, BOM's
• Procurement - specify and source components, equipment and sub-contract services
• Commercial - make sure project milestones are tracked, costs are controlled
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing, oversee packing / shipping, prepare installation plans
• Occasional visits to customer sites in UK & overseas to oversee delivery / complete handovers

Knowledge, Skills & Experience needed to be an Electrical Engineer:

• Experienced in managed multiple projects from concept to completion
• Must have worked within a process engineering or special purpose machinery industry
• Able to use AutoCAD to alter layout drawings for customer specs
• Technical knowledge - process systems, steam systems, hydraulics, pipework, pneumatics
• Strong communicator - working with customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, internal teams
• Able to us MS Project - using Gantt Charts
• Flexible to travel / stay away infrequently in UK overseas when needed
• Must have Passport and UK Driving Licence
