Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer
Contract Duration: 24 months
Location: Kent - Full-time onsite (4-day working week, no flexibility)
Pay Rate: competitive

Role Overview
We are seeking a Project Engineer to deliver fit-for-purpose engineering solutions and provide engineering support for complex projects at Dungeness. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to design authority standards and maintain effective configuration control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects.
Assist in developing the Project Execution Plan, including design, safety case, and commissioning strategies.
Support project optioneering processes to evaluate potential solutions.
Develop concept designs and engineering solutions tailored to project needs.
Produce and/or review technical specifications for project deliverables.
Manage detailed design activities in compliance with design authority standards.
Prepare modification proposals and act as Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) when appointed.
Conduct technical assessments and approvals of contractor work instructions, method statements, and risk assessments.
Provide technical supervision during construction or deconstruction activities to ensure design intent compliance.

Essential Requirements
Practical experience in a Mechanical Engineering role within industrial plant settings.
Experience in nuclear and/or conventional project engineering environments.
Knowledge of relevant company and national engineering standards.
Effective communication skills with clients, contractors, designers, and subject matter experts.
Awareness of Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) regulations.
Relevant qualifications such as HNC, degree, or National Qualifications Framework Level 5/6.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications
Familiarity with Site Licence and Quality Management System requirements.
Contract management experience.
Proven project delivery track record.
Membership of a relevant Engineering Institute.
Chartered Engineer status.
