Project Engineer (Materials Handling)

East Midlands: commutable from Derby, Leicester, and Nottingham

To cGBP50k + benefits (negotiable depending on experience)

Our client has been established for more than 20 years and is recognized as a market leader in providing bespoke, innovative materials handling and automation solutions across various industry sectors throughout the UK. Due to continued success and a strategic growth plan for 2024, they are now seeking a local, experienced Project Engineer to join their professional and highly respected team.

This newly created Project Engineer role is ideal for a dynamic and proactive individual experienced in managing full project lifecycles in a high-tech environment. The Project team is responsible for delivering project programs and objectives by executing and supervising activities to ensure successful project completion.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and have a comprehensive background in installation project management, with practical knowledge of high-value automation installations. You should be a confident self-starter who thrives in a technology-focused business with ambitious growth plans, seeking a new challenge to utilize your skills and experience fully.

Core Responsibilities Will Include (but Not Be Limited To):

1. Identifying and understanding major risk areas that could impact project timelines or costs, such as long lead items, complex design requirements, or resource challenges.
2. Building and coaching the project team through milestones, overcoming challenges along the way.
3. Creating solutions with customers and resolving complex issues during project execution.
4. Assessing risks at project initiation and understanding contractual terms with clients.
5. Managing multiple projects ranging from GBP500k to GBP15m with a customer-oriented approach and excellent client management skills.

To be considered for this role near Nottingham, candidates should have extensive experience in materials handling and automation solutions, a proven track record in high-value technical projects, and be qualified at least to HND level or above in a relevant engineering discipline. Strong commercial acumen, especially in time and cost control, is essential.
