Job summary

Cambridge City Council is seeking a Project Engineer to help drive the authority’s Net Zero goals and support Local Government Reform.

The role can be an apprenticeship where you study Building Services Engineering BEng (Hons) at London South Bank University, or you can apply as a qualified building services professional. You will produce drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit, conduct surveys and site visits, and collaborate with consultants and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship option with BEng (Hons) or qualified professional applying.
  • Public sector experience is valued.

The Project Engineer is a practical role to reach Cambridge City Council’s Net Zero goal and prepare us for Local Government Reform. This role can be an apprenticeship role where you can study a Building Services Engineering BEng (Hons) at London South Bank University or apply as a knowledgeable and qualified building services professional.

We are looking for someone who is:
  • Passionate about reducing carbon emissions and improving building performance.
  • Comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Familiar with public sector working.
  • A confident communicator who can engage with consultants, contractors, building users, senior officers and members of the public.
  • Practical, analytical and solutions-focused, able to identify opportunities for improvement and turn them into successful projects.
  • Produce drawings and record information using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Willing and able to undertake building surveys, site visits and occasional public engagement activities outside normal office hours when required.

Hours

This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week.

£43,150 - £48,738.,Per Annum (City Pay Band 6) pro rata for part time.

Location

This is flexible – working in Cambridge on site or at one of our offices or working from home. You will be able to balance your work location accordingly.
