About the Role:

Our client, a leader in the design, engineering, and construction of critical infrastructure, is looking for an experienced Project Director to lead large-scale substation projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical, commercial, and leadership skills who can manage multidisciplinary teams and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

• Lead complex substation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.
• Coordinate all engineering disciplines under the Lead Consultant role.
• Take full accountability for technical, programme, and commercial performance.

Financial Oversight

• Review monthly project cost and profit reports.
• Ensure projects meet financial targets and generate expected profits.
• Provide quarterly board updates.

Sales & Client Development

• Build strong relationships with clients and pursue new business opportunities.
• Agree on fees, deliverables, and invoicing schedules.
• Lead presentations and proposals for new projects.
• Chase outstanding payments and ensure all invoicing is completed on time.

Team & Quality Leadership

• Manage resources and ensure high-quality deliverables across all projects.
• Approve reports, technical documents, and team timecards.
• Train and mentor team members, helping develop future leaders.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
• Maintain and support ISO 9001 and 14001 quality systems.

Requirements:

• Degree (BEng/MSc) in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or similar.
• 10+ years’ experience in high-voltage switchyard and substation design (up to 765kV ).
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Experience working with or managing third-party contractors.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office and design software.
• Professional, collaborative, and client-focused.
• Chartered or working toward Chartered Engineer status is .
