Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the project and programme management service across complex university, wider education, and cultural commissions.
  2. Direct and manage the delivery of complex projects, managing relationships with senior stakeholders, and providing leadership to project teams.
  3. Ensure all work and outputs meet business plans and goals.
  4. Lead an operational team, setting objectives, managing performance, and ensuring staff have the necessary skills.
  5. Translate business objectives into operational financial targets, producing business cases, plans, and schedules, and meeting profit and budget targets.
  6. Spearhead the implementation of complex projects, managing multi-disciplinary teams to ensure delivery standards meet expectations.
  7. Monitor and review team performance and behaviour, educate and influence others, and ensure compliance with policies and codes of conduct.
  8. Ensure compliance with contracts regarding project delivery parameters and scope of service.
  9. Review complex information from various data sources to advise clients and stakeholders on potential impacts.
  10. Develop project management processes and policies, and coordinate system improvements aligned with strategic objectives.
  11. Manage relationships with internal stakeholders to improve efficiencies and collaboration, ensuring commercial viability and customer satisfaction.
  12. Act as a technical expert, providing strategic advice to support successful project delivery.
  13. Manage relationships with client project sponsors/stakeholders to keep all parties informed and aligned.
  14. Accountable for delivering projects typically over £10m within budget.
  15. Set delivery approaches and plans for multiple projects in consultation with stakeholders.
  16. Establish project delivery plans and control mechanisms.
  17. Manage performance across multiple projects, engaging with senior management and project managers.
  18. Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience managing complex projects.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and lead teams.
  • Expertise in project management within the relevant area.
  • Experience managing relationships at the executive level.
  • Relevant professional qualification or chartered status.
