Job description

We are recruiting for a Project Design Manager to join our South West Water Team, based in Exeter. The Project Design Manager will collaborate closely with the design team and operational teams, focusing on ensuring the quality and timeliness of design outputs.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly awarded Framework, with 10 years of work through AMP 8 and AMP 9. The Project Design Manager will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, overseeing the production of design deliverables for water, wastewater, and biosolids projects across Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly.

Responsibilities include:

1. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, managing design resources to ensure efficient production of deliverables according to the DORM and project schedule.
2. Managing interfaces with third-party designs from consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
3. Overseeing design output in collaboration with design consultants.
4. Ensuring formal design reviews are conducted throughout the project cycle as per Trant procedures.
5. Providing regular reports on progress and expenditure against the DORM and project schedule, and implementing strategies to mitigate overspend.
6. Maintaining effective communication and relationships with clients and their representatives.

Qualifications and experience:

• MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering or Marine Engineering.
• Experience in design and construction organizations, particularly within the water/wastewater sectors.
• Experience working with environmental and planning teams is advantageous.
