National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a Project Controls Manager to join our Regional Investment Programme (RIP) as part of our Major Projects (MP) division. This role will be based at our Birmingham office.

The Project Controls Manager will play a crucial role in Cost Management and Earned Value within the Regional Programme. They will ensure that cost management principles are followed and projects are compliant with cost management processes and procedures.

You will ensure data quality and compliance with IPC processes and facilitate early intervention from Project Managers and Programme Leaders and Directors when Key Performance Data indicates threats to delivery.

What you’ll be leading on

• Provide and utilise project controls expertise to identify best practices and recommend improvement actions where challenges arise; support continuous improvement and support Cost Management / Earned Value.
• Lead cost review sessions, analyze and verify project and regional reports, ensuring the data accurately reflects current project performance for reporting.
• Collaborate within the PMO to define best practices and improve business performance, including integrated baseline management planning and scheduling, risk management, performance analysis, and reporting.
• Embed baseline management & change control processes.
• Ensure data integrity to enhance the benefits of an integrated project controls environment and analyze cross-functional performance.
• Support the wider operation of the PMO and cover for the Regional PMO manager as required.

To be successful you’ll need

• Operational experience in a project or programme controls environment.
• Proven experience working with a wide range of stakeholders to improve project performance.
• Experience analyzing project controls data to inform business decisions.
• Ability to work confidently and proactively to resolve challenges and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities.
• Experience with PRISM is desirable.
