Job summary

Vulcain Engineering UK is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to support successful delivery of nuclear infrastructure projects in a hybrid Bristol setup. The role focuses on governance, reporting, planning support and performance management to provide accurate information for decision-making.

The ideal candidate has PMO/Project Controls experience, strong governance and KPI reporting capabilities, and familiarity with tools like Primavera P6.

Qualifications

• Experience in PMO/Project Controls or Planning Support.
• Experience supporting major infrastructure, construction or heavily regulated projects.
• Strong governance, reporting and performance management capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication across multiple teams.
• Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyse project information and communicate key issues.
• Experience producing KPI reports and dashboards.
• Knowledge of documentation management and reporting processes.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or similar tools.
• PM qualifications such as APM, PPC, PRINCE2 advantageous.
• Nuclear/energy or major project experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Managers, Work Package Managers and delivery teams to monitor progress and milestones.

• Facilitate meetings, workshops and reviews, capturing actions and close-out.
• Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships across project and functional teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement for performance, reporting and visual management.
• Assist in preparing and presenting project performance information to management.

The Position: Project Controls Engineer

We are seeking a Project Controls Engineer to support the successful delivery of projects through effective governance, reporting, planning support and performance management activities. Working within a complex project environment, you will play a key role in ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate information, enabling effective decision-making and supporting the achievement of project objectives.

This role is ideal for an individual with experience in PMO, Project Controls, Planning Support or Project Coordination who is looking to further develop their career within a major infrastructure programme.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Project Controls Engineer will include:

• Support project governance processes, reporting activities and performance management across the project lifecycle.
• Produce, maintain and improve KPI dashboards, management information packs and project reporting outputs.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Work Package Managers and delivery teams to monitor progress, identify risks and track key project milestones.
• Support planning activities, schedule reviews and performance analysis to provide clear visibility of project status.
• Coordinate project documentation, tracking processes and readiness activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Facilitate meetings, workshops and reviews, capturing actions and ensuring timely follow-up and close-out.
• Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across project and functional teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing project performance, reporting effectiveness and visual management practices.
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of project performance information for management and leadership teams.

• Experience working within a PMO, Project Controls, Planning Support or Project Coordination environment.
• Experience supporting major infrastructure, construction, engineering or highly regulated projects.
• Strong governance, reporting and performance management capability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and disciplines.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyse project information and clearly communicate key issues, risks and opportunities.
• Experience producing KPI reports, dashboards and management information would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of documentation management, performance tracking and reporting processes is desirable.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or other project planning tools would be beneficial.
• Project management qualifications such as APM, APMG Project Planning & Controls (PPC), PRINCE2 or similar would be advantageous.
• Experience working within nuclear, energy or major project environments would be beneficial.
