SR2 REC LTD is partnering with a client within the UK Defence sector to secure a Project Controls Assurance SME for a complex Live Service portfolio. This hands-on role will challenge delivery plans, interrogate project controls, assess risk and provide independent recommendations to improve programme performance.

The position is based in Corsham, Wiltshire with three days onsite per week. It offers £500 per day Inside IR35.

• Lead independent project controls assurance reviews and delivery health checks.
• Review schedules, critical paths, milestones and dependencies.
• Assess RAIDO processes, risk escalation and mitigation effectiveness.
• Challenge delivery forecasts, RAG status and programme confidence.
• Conduct maturity assessments and identify control weaknesses.
• Analyse management information, KPIs and portfolio trends.
• Collaborate with Delivery Managers, PMO teams and senior stakeholders to improve governance.
• Provide actionable assurance reports and recommendations.

Project Controls Assurance SME | Defence | SC Clearance

SR2 is partnering with an exciting client operating within the UK Defence sector to secure an experienced Project Controls Assurance SME supporting a complex Live Service portfolio.

This is a hands‑on assurance position for someone who can challenge delivery plans, interrogate project controls, assess risk and provide independent recommendations to improve programme performance.

• Corsham, Wiltshire - 3 days onsite per week -


• £500 per day | Inside IR35


• Contract until end of March, with potential 3-6 month extension


• SC clearance required


• This is a UK eyes only project and we will only accept sole UK nationals

What you'll be doing:

• Leading independent project controls assurance reviews and delivery health checks.


• Reviewing project schedules, critical paths, milestones and dependencies.


• Assessing RAIDO processes, risk escalation and mitigation effectiveness.


• Challenging delivery forecasts, RAG status and programme confidence.


• Conducting delivery maturity assessments and identifying control weaknesses.


• Analysing management information, KPIs and portfolio performance trends.


• Working alongside Delivery Managers, PMO teams and senior stakeholders to improve delivery governance.


• Providing actionable assurance reports and recommendations.

What we're looking for:

• Strong background in Project Controls Assurance, Programme Assurance or Project Controls.


• Proven experience in schedule assurance, RAID/RAIDO management and delivery risk analysis.


• Experience independently reviewing delivery plans, project controls and governance effectiveness.


• Excellent knowledge of critical path analysis, dependencies, forecasting and milestone tracking.


• Experience conducting project health checks, maturity assessments and assurance reviews.


• Confidence constructively challenging senior delivery stakeholders.


• Experience within Defence, government or similarly complex regulated environments would be beneficial.

• SC clearance is required; eligible clearance transfers may be considered.


• Successful candidates must complete BPSS checks.
