We are recruiting for a Project Planner/Controller for a leading Defence organisation based in Bolton.

This is a hybrid role split 50/50.

Ideally, you will have current SC Clearance; if not, you must be eligible to obtain it.

Overview of department:

The role of the Project Planner is to deliver key objectives through ownership and provision of best practice Project Planning to their respective sector/project team. This involves working in collaboration and supporting the Business Performance Management Team and the Technical Teams, responsible for developing, deploying, and managing the Primavera Integrated Plan Network. The role also involves practicing, promoting, and upholding the company standard of Planning and Scheduling.

Responsibilities:
  1. Analyzing ongoing progress and performance, assessing this against contractual and internal targets, and determining variance and its causes.
  2. Preparing reports and recommending actions to maintain or improve progress.
  3. Establishing and initiating the Sector/Projects' overall project schedule, ensuring deployment and maintenance to the company standard.
  4. Supporting the development of planning skills across the project team and coaching team members in best practice planning and scheduling.
  5. Integrating all work package plans to achieve an overall network aligned with the company standard, and managing the performance measurement baseline.
  6. Supporting work package teams in updating their plans monthly.
  7. Producing, distributing, and reporting project schedule data as required, advising on conflicts and corrective actions.
  8. Managing the Earned Value Management (EVM) methodology and applying it when required.
  9. Managing the project critical path analysis process to the company standard.
  10. Fostering good working relationships with engineers and the broader community to embed the company's project control standards, systems, and methods, delivering accurate and timely project performance status data.
Experience required:
  1. Possess a high level of competence and experience with Primavera, SAP PS, and industry-standard computing applications (specifically spreadsheets).
  2. Hold durable communication skills, capable of working in large teams with diverse skills (Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Project Management, etc.).
  3. Possess the appeal of working in a multicultural pan-European environment.
  4. Have proven experience in commercial and financial management.
  5. Be a proactive team player who can inspire others, assertive, with strong negotiation and arbitration skills.

This is an umbrella contract; the role is Inside IR35.
