Outsource UK are recruiting a Project Controls Engineer - Planning to join a growing Defence team delivering high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK. You will develop, maintain and analyse schedules to ensure milestones and objectives are met.

This hybrid role is based in Manchester with on-site requirements up to 3 days per week. Defence sector experience and Primavera P6 proficiency are essential, with salary up to £70,000 plus bonus and car allowance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in a project controls environment.
  • Experience in project or programme management environments.
  • Strong understanding of Project Controls principles.
  • Primavera P6 proficiency is essential.
  • Power BI for reporting and data analysis.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain project schedules aligned with requirements and objectives.
  • Develop and update project programmes with project managers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define scope and reporting.
  • Monitor progress, identify variances, and flag risks.
  • Analyse critical paths, dependencies and constraints.
  • Provide recovery plans to mitigate schedule impacts.
  • Support change management and schedule updates.
  • Produce planning and performance reporting for decisions.

Project Controls Engineer - Planning (Defence)

Salary: Up to £70,000 + bonus + car allowance

Location: Hybrid/Manchester - you could be expected on site up to 3x per week

Outsource UK are recruiting Outsource UK are recruiting for a Project Controls Engineer - Planning to join a growing Defence team supporting the delivery of high-profile infrastructure projects and programmes across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to play a key role in project controls, supporting complex and challenging defence programmes. You will work alongside experienced project controls specialists, project managers, and programme teams to develop, maintain, and analyse project schedules, ensuring successful delivery against key milestones and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain project schedules aligned with project requirements and objectives.
  • Develop and update project programmes in collaboration with project managers and wider project teams.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define scope and develop detailed schedules and performance reporting.
  • Monitor project progress, identify schedule variances, and highlight areas of potential risk.
  • Analyse critical paths, dependencies, and constraints to assess the impact of changes and delays.
  • Provide recommendations and recovery plans to mitigate schedule impacts.
  • Support project managers with change management processes and schedule updates.
  • Produce planning and performance reporting to support project decision-making.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within planning and project controls processes.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience within a project controls environment.
  • Experience working within project or programme management environments, supporting the delivery or control of projects, programmes, or portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of Project Controls principles and methodologies.
