Job summary

Strata Construction Consulting UK Ltd is seeking a Project Civil Engineer to join its client-side team near Reading. You will manage civil engineering design for residential sites, coordinating with external consultants, local authorities, and internal planning teams to deliver adoptable schemes.

The role offers hybrid working, a £50,000–£60,000 salary plus car or car allowance, pension and a 10% bonus. You should have a civil engineering degree and proven experience delivering UK residential

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience delivering UK residential / housing infrastructure
• Strong understanding of highways and drainage design
• Familiar with adoptable standards and approval processes
• Confident managing multiple projects and consultant teams
• Practical, commercially aware, and solutions-focused

Responsibilities

• Managing civil engineering design for residential sites (highways, drainage, levels & utilities)
• Coordinating external civil engineering consultants from concept to delivery
• Overseeing technical approvals including S104, S38, S278 and S106
• Supporting land appraisals, technical due diligence, and planning submissions
• Liaising with local authorities, water companies, and statutory undertakers
• Ensuring designs are technically compliant, adoptable, and commercially sound
• Providing technical support through construction and adoption phases

A well-established, privately owned residential developer is looking to appoint a Project Civil Engineer to join its in-house technical team. The role offers excellent exposure to the full development lifecycle, from early land stages through to construction and adoption.

This is an ideal opportunity for a civil engineer currently working in consultancy or housebuilding who is looking for a client-side role with real ownership of projects.

The Role

You will take responsibility for managing and coordinating all civil engineering aspects of residential developments, working closely with external consultants, local authorities, and internal planning, land, and construction teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing civil engineering design for residential sites (highways, drainage, levels & utilities)
• Coordinating external civil engineering consultants from concept to delivery
• Overseeing technical approvals including S104, S38, S278 and S106
• Supporting land appraisals, technical due diligence, and planning submissions
