Job description

The studio has grown to a team of around 30 architects and interior architects. Most of its work is in London, alongside private residential projects in France, Italy and Switzerland.

Its projects bring together architecture, interior architecture and interior design to create highly considered homes for private clients. The work is detailed, elegant and sensitive to the character of each property, often involving the comprehensive refurbishment and reconfiguration of substantial existing buildings.

The Opportunity

The studio is looking for a Project Architect to join its team, with a particular focus on the interior architecture of projects during the later stages of design and delivery.

You will work on substantial private residences, developing and coordinating the architectural and interior architecture elements from detailed design through to construction and completion. This will include producing detailed plans, internal elevations, joinery packages, finishes information, lighting and small power layouts, schedules and specifications.

Working closely with interior designers, consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers, you will ensure the design intent is translated into coordinated, technically resolved and buildable information.

You will review consultant and subcontractor drawings, respond to RFIs, comment on fabrication information and resolve design issues as they arise during construction. You will also attend site meetings, liaise directly with clients and maintain oversight of quality through to practical completion.

While later-stage interior architecture experience is central to the brief, the role will provide the opportunity to contribute across the wider design process and take ownership of projects within a growing studio.

The Candidate

  • Significant experience working on high-end private residential projects
  • Strong interior architecture experience, particularly during RIBA Stages 4 and 5
  • Experience producing comprehensive tender and construction drawing packages
  • Excellent technical ability across plans, internal elevations, bespoke joinery and detailed setting-out information
  • A strong understanding of materials, finishes, lighting and the coordination of building services within interiors
  • Experience coordinating architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors and specialist subcontractors
  • Confidence reviewing fabrication drawings and resolving technical issues during construction
  • Experience responding to RFIs and maintaining design quality on site
  • Strong client-facing and project coordination skills
  • An appreciation of existing, heritage and listed buildings
  • The ability to balance design intent with programme, budget and buildability
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • A background in architecture or interior architecture
