Job summary

Pencil and Brick is seeking a Project Architect to join their London team. You will take ownership from concept to delivery, mentor junior staff, and work closely with design and construction teams to deliver high‑quality private residential schemes.

AR B registration with 5+ years post‑registration UK experience is essential, with strong private residential project background. The role is based at Brick Lane studio with a Friday WFH option.

Qualifications

  • ARB registration with minimum 5 years post-registration UK practice experience and strong private residential project experience.
  • Proven Project Architect experience and ability to manage projects independently.
  • Excellent technical and design coordination skills; strong client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and delivering multiple architectural projects day-to-day.
  • Coordinating design stages from concept through technical delivery.
  • Preparing planning and building regulation submissions.
  • Producing technical drawings, specifications and presentation material.
  • Supporting construction teams with technical design input.
  • Leading client interactions and managing project experience.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior architectural staff.
  • Collaborating with senior management to improve processes and delivery.

The Opportunity

Pencil and Brick is seeking a Project Architect to join its growing architectural team. This role will suit an experienced ARB-registered Architect who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through delivery, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the wider development of a design-led practice.

You will manage multiple residential projects simultaneously, working closely with the Design Team Lead and construction teams to deliver exceptional private residential schemes. This is a long-term career opportunity with clear progression into senior leadership and director-level positions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Desirable Experience
  • Senior Project Architect experience
  • Experience leading small design teams
  • Vectorworks experience (or willingness to learn)
  • Experience delivering architect-led residential projects end-to-end Comfortable working primarily from the Brick Lane studio (Friday WFH policy)
