Job summary

Scottish Canals seeks a Project Accountant to join the Finance Department in Falkirk or Glasgow. You will provide support to stakeholders on the accounting and budgetary treatment of projects, enabling accurate accounting and reporting over the project life cycle.

The role is permanent, 28 hours per week, with a starting salary of £49,588 (Band F) for a 35 hour week, pro rata for 28 hours, and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• Finance background with at least 3 years' experience.
• Strong analytical, numeric and critical reasoning skills.
• Awareness of working in a public sector organisation.

Responsibilities

• Supporting stakeholders on the accounting and budgetary treatment of projects.
• Responsible for accurate accounting of the project life cycle.
• Support stakeholders in completing Stage Gate reports.
• Keep accurate records of all active and completed Projects and Stage gate reports.
• Support the continuous improvement of business processes within project accounting, to ensure efficiency and business improvement.
• Responsible for financial reporting of Capital Investment Program, including Grant in aid and 3rd party funding.
