Job summary

CMA Recruitment Group is supporting a well-established construction-sector business in Fareham, Hampshire, to appoint a Finance Systems & Transformation Accountant. The role is project-focused, with ownership of a defined transformation programme from day one, and close collaboration with the finance team.

You will lead finance system migrations, review system upgrades, and drive improvements across invoicing, asset tracking and stock controls, including a full fixed asset audit across sites.

Qualifications

• Experience leading finance system implementations, migrations or improvements within a mid-size ERP environment.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to work with large data sets in Excel.
• Collaborative approach with finance and operational stakeholders to deliver change while maintaining controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead a finance system migration project including data cleansing, testing, implementation and post go-live review.
• Review recommendations for system upgrades and wider improvements for better reporting and controls.
• Inspect existing platforms and identify opportunities to expand use across invoicing and asset tracking.
• Plan and deliver a full fixed asset audit across multiple sites and support valuations.
• Investigate and implement a new stock control policy and supporting system.
• Provide clear documentation, training and knowledge transfer to the finance team on completion of each project.

Job description

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established business operating in the construction sector, based in Fareham, Hampshire. Having grown steadily, the business is now investing in a wide-ranging finance systems and process improvement programme, and is looking for a Finance Systems & Transformation Accountant to lead it.

This is a genuinely project-focused role rather than a business-as-usual finance seat, giving the successful candidate real ownership of a defined transformation programme from day one, working closely alongside the existing finance team.

What will the Project Accountant role involve?

• Leading a finance system migration project, including data cleansing, testing, implementation and post go-live review, working closely with the finance team and external system providers
• Reviewing recommendations for system upgrades, additional modules and wider improvements to support seamless integration, stronger controls and better reporting
• Reviewing an existing operational systems platform and identifying opportunities to expand its use across processes such as invoicing and asset tracking
• Planning and delivering a full fixed asset audit across multiple sites, reconciling findings to the asset register and supporting insurance valuations
• Investigating and implementing a new stock control policy and supporting system
• Providing clear documentation, training and knowledge transfer to the finance team on completion of each project

Suitable Candidate for the Project Accountant vacancy:

• Qualified, part-qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant with strong finance and commercial experience
• Proven experience of finance system implementation, migration or improvement projects, ideally within a mid-size ERP environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence working with large data sets in Excel
• A collaborative approach, comfortable working closely with finance and operational stakeholders to deliver change while maintaining strong controls
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
• Willingness for occasional travel between sites
