Job description

Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock has an opportunity for a Project Accountant to join their team in Three Bridges, Crawley.

You will be responsible for several large, high-profile, government-sponsored projects and will work within a motivated and driven commercial team.

This role requires a minimum of 2-3 days in the Crawley office per week.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Preparing monthly forecasts and annual budgets for multiple projects, and transferring necessary data and commentary to Finance in a timely manner.
  • Managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes; ensuring Financial Statements comply with Siemens guidelines and local GAAP.
  • Ensuring correct allocation of costs; working with responsible Managers to control costs and actively mitigate deviations from plans.
  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate Percentage of Completion models for multiple projects.
  • Creating new projects / sales orders and Work Breakdown Structures as needed.
  • Maintaining the Risk & Opportunity Register, driving ownership among project management for risk mitigation and opportunity exploitation.
  • Monitoring Non-Conformance Costs, preparing Root Cause Analyses, and recording findings in the local NCC Tool.
  • Providing accurate and timely management information to project management, Finance, and local/divisional HQs.
  • Assisting in capturing all costs related to Additional Services and Claims, and negotiating settlements with Customers / Suppliers.
  • Managing invoicing in line with contracts; pursuing debt collection.
  • Managing supplier payments and liaising with suppliers to resolve disputed invoices, involving procurement when necessary.
Your success will be based on:
  • Prior experience in Project Accounting is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Part-qualified or Qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent) is preferable.
  • Experience with SAP (Spiridon or similar) is desirable.
