Hutcheon Mearns has been engaged by an oil service company to source a Project Accountant on a full-time, permanent basis. Our client is a Private Equity-backed, high-growth, multi-national organization. This role is based in Aberdeen with hybrid and flexible working arrangements. It offers an excellent opportunity for candidates to advance their careers in a successful business.

This role will be responsible for monthly accounting entries, reporting (quarterly and monthly), budgeting and forecasting, and supporting multiple projects. To be considered, you should have extensive project accounting experience and the ability to start contributing immediately.

The Opportunity

• Manage all aspects of project accounting and ensure projects operate with appropriate financial controls
• Prepare business line accounting entries and reports accurately and on time, aligned with project timetables
• Review Profit & Loss statements in detail and liaise with project managers
• Support the development of standard management reporting frameworks for group-wide use
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with forecasting updates and variance analysis for business lines
• Identify and disclose project risks, opportunities, mitigation plans, and savings during review meetings
• Work closely with business lines to manage and reduce WIP, Aged Debt, and other KPIs
• Support stock and fixed asset counts
• Prepare VAT returns and other tax documentation such as Intrastat and EC Sales Lists
• Coordinate internal and external payroll functions

Background and Experience

• Previous experience in a project or management accountant role within a medium-sized business
• Comprehensive knowledge of daily accounting operations
• Experience with integrated ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
