Job summary

York College is seeking a Progress Coordinator (Apprenticeships) to lead Personal and Professional Development sessions for learners and apprentices, covering mental health, wellbeing, safeguarding, financial literacy, British Values and employability.

You will provide pastoral support to a caseload, contribute to reviews, shape the PPD scheme of work, and uphold safeguarding practices in a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

About the role

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the personal, social, and professional development of our learners and apprentices. You will independently deliver our planned Personal and Professional Development (PPD) programme, leading sessions on topics such as mental health, wellbeing, safeguarding, financial literacy, British Values, and employability. Working closely with specialist teachers and apprenticeship staff, you will help ensure every learner has access to engaging, accessible and inclusive tutorials that build confidence, resilience and essential life skills.

You will also provide pastoral support to a defined caseload of apprentices, contributing to their reviews, supporting their progress, and signposting them to wider college services. In addition, you’ll help shape and refine our PPD scheme of work, contribute to enrichment activities, and uphold strong safeguarding practices. This is a role for someone who is passionate about helping young adults thrive both personally and professionally, and who can create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

About the person

We are looking for someone who is approachable, supportive and genuinely committed to the wellbeing and development of young adults. You will be confident delivering sessions to groups of varying sizes, able to explain complex topics clearly, and skilled at building positive, professional relationships with learners from diverse backgrounds - including those with SEND and/or EHCPs.

You’ll bring strong organisational skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to adapt materials to meet different learning needs. A good understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing and Prevent (or a willingness to train) is essential. Most importantly, you will be someone with empathy, resilience and a genuine desire to make a difference - helping learners develop the behaviours, attitudes and personal skills they need to succeed in college, in their apprenticeship, and in life.
