The City of London Corporation's Trade & Investment team sits at the heart of efforts to promote the UK internationally as a leading destination for investment and business. We work with government, industry and partners across the UK and around the world to attract investment, support economic growth and strengthen the UK's position as a global financial and professional services centre. Our work spans strategic partnerships, international engagement, investment promotion and high-profile initiatives designed to deliver real economic impact.

About the role

We're looking for a Programme Manager who is as comfortable making things happen as they are making plans.

This isn't a role focused solely on governance, reporting or process. We're looking for someone who can bring structure to complexity, connect the dots across multiple workstreams and help drive projects from concept to delivery.

You’ll work across a varied portfolio of programmes and initiatives, collaborating with colleagues, senior leaders and external partners to deliver outcomes that support UK growth and international competitiveness. No two days are the same. One day you might be helping shape a new strategic initiative, the next unblocking a delivery challenge, coordinating stakeholders around a shared objective, or supporting preparations for a high-profile engagement involving business and government leaders.

You’ll be part of a collaborative Programmes Team that works flexibly across the wider Trade & Investment team, supporting colleagues to turn priorities into well-coordinated delivery.

What you'll be doing

Lead and coordinate high-profile projects and initiatives across the Trade & Investment portfolio.

Bring momentum, structure and delivery focus to complex programmes involving multiple stakeholders.

Identify risks and challenges early and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving forward.

Work across teams, functions and organisations to build alignment and deliver shared outcomes.

Support the development of new initiatives, partnerships and approaches that strengthen the UK’s attractiveness to investors and international business.

Provide trusted advice and clear recommendations to senior colleagues in fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous situations.

Help ensure the team has the information, processes and performance insights needed to deliver effectively.

Who we're looking for

You’ll be a proactive self-starter with excellent judgement and a track record of delivering results in a complex environment.

You enjoy taking ownership, solving problems and helping others succeed. You're naturally collaborative, quick to build relationships and confident working with senior stakeholders.

We're particularly interested in candidates who:

Create clarity where others see ambiguity.

Take initiative and identify opportunities to improve delivery.

Are politically astute and able to navigate competing priorities with confidence and professionalism.

Enjoy connecting people, ideas and activity to achieve a common goal.

Balance strategic thinking with a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into delivery.

Stay calm and organised when managing multiple priorities.

Have an interest in trade, investment, economic growth and the factors that help the UK compete internationally.

This is an opportunity to work on projects that matter. You'll help shape initiatives that support investment into the UK, strengthen international relationships and contribute to economic growth. You'll work with colleagues and partners across government, industry and international markets, giving you exposure to issues and stakeholders that operate at the intersection of policy, business and global markets.

If you're motivated by interesting challenges, meaningful outcomes and the opportunity to make things happen, we'd love to hear from you.

Closing date: 23:59pm on Tuesday 22nd September 2026

Provisional interview date: W/C 05/10/2026
