Qualifications

  • Experience in the Automotive/Motor Vehicle industry is required.
  • Qualifications necessary include Level 5 Education and Training.
  • Must be willing to obtain Level 5 qualification if not already held.

About The College

Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located.

Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.

The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region

Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. About The Role

At Northumberland College, we are seeking a dynamic and visionary Programme Leader in Motor Vehicle to join our team. This key role is integral in shaping the future of our students and ensuring they are equipped with the skills required for an evolving automotive industry. With the rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid technologies, and autonomous driving systems, the automotive landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. This change requires new technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of cutting-edge technologies.

As Programme Leader, you will be responsible for contributing to the design, development, and delivery of the motor vehicle curriculum, ensuring it meets both regional and national industry standards. You will work closely with local employers, fostering strong partnerships to ensure our students are well-prepared for the challenges of the modern automotive sector. You will also play a key role in the development of future-focused courses, including sustainable and green automotive technologies, helping to future-proof our workforce.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the review and development of curriculum, ensuring career-focused, sequenced learning with high-quality resources and planning.
  • Oversee accurate data management throughout the student journey to drive continuous improvement and monitor programme performance.
  • Take responsibility for student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression, ensuring quality guidance and support.
  • Deliver exceptional teaching, assessment, and learning experiences, maintaining high standards across all courses and programmes.
  • Ensure pastoral care and well-being support for students, working with internal and external teams to address concerns.
  • Promote and celebrate student and staff success, contributing to a positive college culture and valuing excellence.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 in Education and Training or willing to work towards
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification Automotive / Motor Vehicle related area.
  • Minimum Level 2 Maths qualification
  • Minimum Level 2 English qualification

  • Previous experience of working within the Automotive / Motor Vehicle Industry
  • Demonstrates courage in leading change, embracing innovation, and taking accountability for student progress and curriculum development.
