Job summary

National Highways in the UK is seeking a Programme Delivery Manager to oversee a portfolio of projects in the Yorkshire & North East region. The role leads project delivery from design to service, while managing budgets, quality, and customer outcomes.

Based in Darlington with a planned move to Stockton in 2027, the post also mandates strong leadership of project managers, robust supplier and contract oversight, and continuous improvements to delivery performance.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in engineering or extensive civil delivery experience.
• Up-to-date knowledge of CDM and health and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of highways construction and maintenance practices.
• Experience in supplier and contract management.
• Extensive experience delivering high value capital investment programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of projects within the region's in-year capital programme.
• Ensure projects meet quality, cost and time parameters and outcomes.
• Report on capital expenditure budgets and enforce financial controls.
• Identify efficiencies and implement changes within the area.
• Provide leadership and oversight of supplier performance and risk management.
